Site preparation and establishment work
Site preparation and establishment work will continue within and around the Burwood North Station sites throughout
August. The main activities will include site establishment, piling and relocation of utilities.

Work during August includes:
• Demolition work on the southern site
• Ground levelling, excavation and concreting work, including vibratory rolling for compaction
• Piling for the acoustic shed and permanent retaining wall
• Construction of retaining structures such as capping beams and ground anchors
• Installation and commissioning of site office structures
• Civil works for temporary structures on site, such as internal driveway, spoil sheds and water treatment plant
• Utility and civil work in Burwood and Parramatta roads as well as Burton, Gipps and Loftus streets
• Installation of fencing, scaffolding and hoarding which will be adjusted as work progresses
• Construction of driveways on the northern construction site
• Utility investigations and treatments for driveway construction on both sites
• Delivery and pick up of oversize equipment to and from both sites, including delivery of site offices and amenities during standard construction hours via Burton Street

This work will be carried out during standard construction hours:
• Monday to Friday 7am – 6pm and Saturday 8am – 6pm

Work outside standard construction hours
Some of the utility relocation, hoarding adjustment and driveway construction work must be undertaken outside
standard construction hours to minimise impacts on traffic and to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and
workers.
This out-of-hours work will be carried out progressively on Burwood Road, Parramatta Road, Gipps Street and Loftus
Street (corner of Paramatta Road) between 8pm and 5am on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights from Tuesday
2 August to Friday 2 September 2022.
In addition to AFJV work, RPS will be carrying out temporary road remediation work on Burwood Road (refer map
overleaf).

 

Equipment used:
Equipment used for this work includes but is not limited to: trucks, light vehicles, excavators, graders, watercarts,
concrete saws, bobcats, jack hammers, vacuum trucks, vibratory rollers, concrete pumps and hand tools.

Changes to traffic, pedestrian and cyclist routes:
Traffic control will be in place to assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists with temporary changes to traffic
conditions including partial road and footpath closures on Burwood Road, Burton, Loftus and Gipps streets and
Parramatta Road, as well as temporary parking removal on Burton Street during site office and equipment
deliveries. Property and driveway access will be maintained at all times.
