An exciting milestone took place on site at Murdoch University’s New Academic Building last week with the first of the mass engineered timber arriving from sustainable suppliers in Italy, Germany and Victoria, Australia.

The New Academic Building is currently the largest mass timber construction underway in Western Australia with the four storey, 130 metre long structure to be comprised of glulam and cross laminated timber – or more specifically, softwood spruce timber and hardwood Victorian Ash.

The timber in last week’s delivery will be installed on site as structural elements like slabs, columns, beams and braces.

On completion, we are targeting a 6 Star Green Star Rating. Currently, 13 pieces have been installed…1,584 left to go!
