Erection of the west departures bridge was completed recently, checking off another milestone in our work on the landside as the project progress towards our scheduled opening in 2026. The west departures bridge will be used by vehicles to drop passengers off at the new world-class terminal.
Fabricated in Italy, the massive 846 tons bridge structure traveled more than 4,200 miles by sea from Northern Italy to JFK Airport. Erection of the bridge required a carefully coordinated effort among all teams, with extensive planning to ensure that each piece of the structure was safely lifted and placed into position. Congratulations to the team for executing this milestone successfully in our landside program!
