Construction work at Westmead – August
Day work will be ongoing within our construction sites and in local streets during standard construction hours 7am to
6pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm on Saturday.
Out-of-hours works will occur during scheduled Sydney Trains track work weekends and when trains are not running
to minimise or avoid disruption to commuter services and / or road traffic. Scheduled dates for August include:
• 6pm Friday 12 until 7am Monday 15 August 2022
• 6pm Friday 19 until 7am Monday 22 August 2022
• 6pm Friday 26 until 7am Monday 29 August 2022

Details on upcoming works in September are outlined on the following page.

Transport for Tomorrow work:
• Locating underground services for site investigation
• Excavating for footings and installing steel troughing within the rail corridor
• Constructing a debris wall within the rail corridor
• Cable containment on the Westmead station platforms
• Cable pulling and rail signalling work
• Trenching work for installation of buried cable routes
• Installing and removing poles and conductors requiring temporary road closures
• Removing vegetation and spoil.

Gamuda Australia and Laing O’Rourke Consortium work:
• Surveying including road dilapidation on nearby streets to record the existing condition
• Conducting geotechnical investigations to assess ground and soil conditions and to monitor groundwater
• Conducting utility investigations such as potholing and relocation of services such as power, gas and water
• Continuing site establishment including site clearing, installing fencing, hoarding and signage
• Installing and relocating current site amenities, sheds, environmental controls including sediment control fencing
• Constructing site access at existing site entry points
• Delivering machinery, equipment, drilling rigs, containers, mobile cranes, and materials to site
• Removing waste materials including demolition waste, building and hazardous materials.

 

Changes to traffic, pedestrian, and cyclist routes:
From 6pm Saturday 13 until 6am Sunday 14 August changes to vehicle access will be in place on Alexandra
Avenue between Bridge Road and Hawkesbury Road. Local access will be maintained and detours will be in place.

To facilitate access to our work areas and safely operate machinery, parking access will be temporarily removed
in some sections of Alexandra Avenue in August. Please see the map overleaf for work locations and areas where
parking removal will be required. Access to pathways, properties and Westmead Station will be maintained at all
times.

Equipment used for work includes but is not limited to excavators, cranes, semi-trailers, elevated work platforms,
concrete trucks and pumps, generators, rock hammers, vacuum truck, drilling rigs, loaders, hand tools, saws, dump
truck, tipper and light vehicles.

Maintenance works will continue on utility assets around the Westmead site. This work may be conducted out-of-hours as
required and will be notified separately.

Minimising community impacts
We understand construction activities may cause disruption to our closest neighbours, and every effort will be
made to minimise the impacts where possible, including conducting on-site monitoring to ensure compliance
with strict environmental conditions relating to noise, vibration and dust management.
