Site preparation and establishment work
The tunnelling contractor, AFJV will continue site preparation and establishment work within and around the North
Strathfield metro station site during August to prepare for the start of major construction. Activities include ground
levelling and utility work. Unless otherwise stated below, these activities will be carried out during standard
construction hours:
• Monday to Friday 7am – 6pm and Saturday 8am – 6pm

Some work must be undertaken outside standard construction hours to minimise impacts on traffic and to ensure the
safety of motorists, pedestrians and workers.

AFJV work in August includes:
• Ground levelling and piling platform excavation including the use of vibratory rollers
• Specialist containment and removal of any asbestos or other hazardous materials found on site, which is being
completed following strict SafeWork NSW procedures
• Road signage installation
• Utility investigation and relocation work along Queen Street
• Concrete slab construction
• Installation of a new power pole and some minor tree branch trimming

Work outside standard construction hours
Some of the utility work must be undertaken outside standard construction hours and will be carried out between 8pm
and 5am on Monday, Thursday and Friday nights from Monday 1 August to Friday 2 September 2022. The work
site will move along Queen Street during this period.

T4T work in August includes:
• Utility investigation work within the rail corridor
• Installation of cable containment within the rail corridor between Cooper Street and the corner of Gracemere
and Queen streets. This involves installation of posts, steel troughing and trenching
• Construction of stair footing and walkway within the rail corridor
• Upgrade to electrical infrastructure and installation of cables
• Installation of a stair set adjacent to Pomeroy Street
• Vegetation and spoil removal.

Equipment used:
Equipment will include: trucks, light vehicles, excavators, graders, watercarts, concrete saws, bobcats, jack hammers,
vacuum trucks, vibratory rollers, elevated work platforms, concrete pumps and hand tools.

Changes to traffic, pedestrian and cyclist routes:
This work will involve partial road and footpath closures on Queen Street as well as short-term, staged parking
removal while work occurs. Two-way traffic will be maintained around the work site on Queen Street but there may
be minor traffic delays. Two parking spaces will be removed from the western side of Queen Street to allow truck
access to site, prior to removal of the parking lane adjacent to the site in late August. Property and driveway access
will be maintained at all times. We understand construction activities may cause disruption to our closest
neighbours and every effort will be made to minimise impacts where possible.
